If you have a bit of time to spare and an interest in keeping Bishop’s Waltham Gardening Club thriving, we would value your input. Members are always encouraged to get involved and we love to welcome new people into the team. 

Whether you prefer to volunteer at BWGC events throughout the year, or feel you could offer a steady hand as a trustee to help with the club’s ‘behind-the-scenes’ running, your contribution makes a valuable and practical difference. 

There’s no need for expert gardening knowledge; we simply need reliable, down-to-earth people who want to ensure the club remains a focal point for the village. It’s a great way to stay active, support the local community and meet new people with a shared interest in gardening.

BWGC club is run solely by a team of volunteer trustees, who initially serve for 1 year, after which they can be nominated for additional years, if they wish to continue serving. They play an essential role and enable to club to run. Activities specific to a BWGC trustee are to:
  • Attend monthly Trustee meetings at The Shed, held on the third Monday of each month and usually last for 1.5 – 2 hours
  • Take a turn working at The Shop (usually 5-6 mornings per year), alongside another trustee or volunteer
  • Take on a specific task, as needed by the club, such as a statutory role (chair, secretary, treasurer) or supporting roles (membership secretary, social events, allotment allocator, maintenance, community projects)
  • Assist with club events

BWGC Volunteer Vacancies

From time to time, trustees need a bit of extra help. It might be helping on the allotments, at the annual BBQ, the social evening or at one of our monthly speaker events. Perhaps assisting at the Annual Open Show or even judging the allotments once a year.

Maybe you have a special skill to offer, and we could call on you to help on the odd occasion. By letting us have your name and, if you you have one, your preferred area of interest, you will be supporting our gardening community of over 350 members and the trustees. You will not be committed to anything, it just means you might be willing to help if and when you can.

We are always looking for new volunteers to join the club, so please do get in contact.

Event Speakers - Ongoing Vacancies

We are always looking for experts in Horticulture and associated topics to present at our monthly speaker evenings and share knowledge and experience with our audience. This is a paid role, with speaking time and expenses covered. If you are interested and would like to find out more, please get in contact as we would love to hear from you.
