1. Heaviest courgette competition: this year we will be running a ‘heaviest courgette’ competition.  Weigh in at The Shed mid September. There will be a prize of some sort, almost undoubtedly a shop voucher. Please note, this is for courgettes only, not any other type of marrow.  See here if you’re unsure of the difference.

 

2. Sunflower competition for children: 2 prizes, height and head diameter (less leaves), competition entries will be announced in Spring. For judging day you will need to take a photo of your sunflower, preferably with your child standing beside it, and another photo of the flower itself with a ruler or tape measure to show the circumference. Email them to us (BWGC-INFO@bwgc.co.uk) just before the judging day (to be announced in September) giving the height of the plant. If you have grown yours on an allotment there is no need for the photo, we can just go down and see for ourselves. If judging is very close we may need to make a home visit for detailed measurements.
